Currency

Tanzanian shilling (TZS) is the currency used in all areas of Tanzania.

Tanzanian shilling is subdivided into 100 senti (cents in English).

Mobile- and cellphone

Mobile- and cellphone usage in Tanzania is very expensive if you use a foreign service provider.

Kilishare Lodge strongly advise that you change to a local cell- and internet provider if you want to access the internet and use other services through your phone during your stay in Tanzania.

Tanzania offers 3G- and in some areas 4G connection also.

Kilishare Lodge will assist you with any questions regarding service providers and SIM-cards.

Electricity

Electricity and access to electrical power is unstable in many parts of Tanzania also.

This is also the case at Kilishare Lodge.

The standard voltage is 230V with a 50Hz frequency.

If you bring a computer to Tanzania.

We recommend you bring a laptop also.

This due to unstable power supply.

Gratuity

In Tanzania, it is standard customary to give a gratuity for certain services.

The gratuity amount depends on what service is provided, but as a visitor you should always carry single shilling- and bills dedicated for this purpose.

Gratuity for services at Kilimanjaro and on safari should be of a more generous amount than regular services. This gratuity should be given to the chief guide of the tour.
